In questa puntata, ci occupiamo dei cosiddetti: Cult Movie. Il Cult Movie si divide in due categorie, quelli che, per cast, per regia e trama, sono destinati a restare nel tempo, vividi e con tracce di dialogo che rimangono nel lessico quotidiano. Esempi ce ne sono tanti, ma ne facciamo due su tutti: la saga de Il Padrino (parte prima e seconda, sulla terza stendiamo un velo pietoso) e “C’era una volta in America”. Quei film di cui non ti pesa la lunghezza e che ti lasciano la malinconia della fine. Quei film che, pur avendoli visti 100 volte, quando li passano ti metti comodo e li riguardi col gusto della prima volta. Altra categoria di Cult Movie, e di quella ci occuperemo oggi, sono quei film che ci diventano. Spesso con budget ridotti, cast non stellari e destinati alla moltitudine in periodi in cui ti guardavi la commediola per passare un’oretta e mezza, senza pretese. Spesso, gli attori caratteristi, sono determinanti. Anche qui due esempi su tutti: Febbre da Cavallo e L’Armata Brancaleone.
Il Primo, con un Gigi Proietti mai così ispirato, ha l’intuizione di calcare sul giocatore di cavalli, svelandone le debolezze, i sotterfugi per rimediare qualche lira, la sconfitta perenne. I personaggi sono costruiti e assemblati in maniera perfetta, da Mandrake e le sue “mandrakate” a “Er Pomata”, un Enrico Montesano altrettanto in vena. Il vernacolo romanesco fa il resto, con battute fulminanti e risposte immediate, tipiche di quel gergo. Alcune scene sono da antologia: la corsa in treno per evitare il controllore, la truffa col rapimento del fantino per vincere la corsa. I nomi dei cavalli. Chi non ricorda King, Soldatino e D’Artagnan, tre cavalli “boni pà ammazzatora” come li definisce Mandrake. La “nonna der Pomata” morta decine di volte per sfuggire ai creditori. Ma i caratteristi, qua, fanno la differenza. Un Mario Carotenuto fantastico, proprietario squattrinato del cavallo Soldatino che sogna la sua rivincita. Clamorosa la battuta quando hanno un incidente: “Bravo, ce l’hai fatta a rovinamme definitivamente”. La mia preferita? Una: il segnale bussando alla porta di Montesano, 3 colpi, poi 4, poi 6 e poi, spazientito, “Apri Caruso”.
Altro, che forse per cast non può essere definito a basso costo, perché quando hai Gassman ed Enrico Maria Salerno qualche cosa ti aspetti, è L’Armata Brancaleone. Mario Monicelli ha la grande intuizione di costruire i dialoghi con un maccheronico linguaggio cinquecentesco, che si rivela semplicemente esilarante. Tra l’altro, alcuni scritti dicono che, più o meno, in alcune città si parlasse proprio così. Il prode Brancaleone, cavaliere diroccato ma fiero, in sella al suo fido Aquilante, cavallo che raglia come un somaro. Enrico Maria Salerno, inarrivabile, nei panni de “lo monaco Zenone” che egli sfuma in un invasato guaritore che promette salvezza a chi “pugnerà” nelle Terre Sante. Le scene da scolpire sono molteplici, dell’attraversamento “dello Cavalcone” al duello nel campo di grano tra Brancaleone e Gian Maria Volontè (altro gigante) che finisce, a forza di sferzare le spade, con l’aramento totale dello stesso campo. La conquista della rocca, che inorgoglisce il prode Brancaleone, salvo poi scoprire: “No, in quello letto no”. “Ulla, e perché?”. “Vi morì lo meo marito. Iera”. “Iera? E di che malanno”. Come, de lo gran morbo che tutti ci piglia, la peste”. Anche qui personaggi di contorno perfetti. Le scene da risate grasse sono innumerevoli. Il vostro, chi vi scrive, le ricorda tutte.
